A 48-year-old businessman has been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Courtroom over an alleged GH¢4,037,107.32 value of gold fraud.
George Essandoh has denied the cost and he shall be introduced again to the courtroom on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
In the meantime, his accomplices: George Sarpong, Jerry Mohammed, Braveness Ambush and Apostle Emmanuel Marwort are at the moment on the run.
Efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Evans Kesse informed the Courtroom presided over by Mr Kwabena Koduah Obiri Yeboah that Mr Rowland Noble Amedze and Mr Henry E. Paul, the administrators of Infosight World Sources Incorporation, specialists in excessive tech, strong minerals and gemstone companies, amongst others, had been the complainants.
He stated in 2021, Mr Paul met an account person on Fb who had launched himself as Apostle Marwort and through their engagement, he informed the complainant he was a businessman who labored for Gold Park Mines, sellers of Gold in Ghana.
The prosecution stated Marwort additionally launched Sarpong,but to be arrested, because the Chief Govt Officer of Gold Park Mines and Essandoh because the Firm’s agent.
The Courtroom heard that Essandoh in his engagement with the complainant demanded and picked up $696,125 equal to GH¢4,037,107.32 below the pretext of facilitating the exportation of 250 kg of gold to Thailand.
DSP Kesse stated Essandoh after amassing the cash did not ship the gold to the complainant.
He stated the complainant made a number of efforts to recuperate his cash or get the gold however all failed.
DSP Kesse stated a proper criticism was lodged to the Police, which led to the arrest of Essandoh.
