Nationwide Catastrophe Administration Group (NADMO) in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service are investigating the circumstances underneath which eight pupils crossing the Volta River to high school misplaced their lives.
The eight pupils have been amongst 20 others crossing the river.
The pupils died when crossing from the Atikagome Neighborhood within the Sene East District of the Bono East Area to Wayokope halfway into the journey when a ship they have been touring on to high school capsized on the Lake.
Confirming the incident, the Sene East Director of the Nationwide Catastrophe Administration Group (NADMO), Ibrahim Wudonyim stated the incident occurred within the morning however they’d the data late.
”Atikagome is a fishing group on an Island so pupils from the group attend college at Wayokope as a result of that’s the place there’s a college. So this morning whereas on their strategy to college the boat they have been travelling on capsized resulting in the dying of ejght of the youngsters out of the 20, we’re on our strategy to the group as a result of we had the data very late,” he stated.
