Ghanaian actor James Gardiner and TV presenter Regina Vanhelvert took charge of the red carpet interactions for the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
The Day 2 of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) organised by Charterhouse took place on Saturday to continue to honour artistes who have paid their dues by entertaining the country.
One of the biggest entertainment award events of the year took place virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The VGMA red carpet was graced by the presence of several renowned personalities.
The red carpet hosted the likes of Dzifa Gomashie (former Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts), Kidi, Adina, Kalybos, Lexis Bill, Rex Omar, Sammy Forson, Cina Soul and others.
The most talked-about award was the ‘Artiste of the year’ category.
When asked the question “who should win artiste of the year”, some personalities spoke about allowing the young to be celebrated for the night.
The legendary Rex Omar, Kalybos and the Drivetime host on Joy FM, Lexis Bill, who looked outstanding in an all-white outfit, spoke about giving the young ones the chance to sweep the awards for the night.
“I am rooting for the young guys” he said. He didn’t hide his support for Kuami Eugene, Kofi Kinaata and Medikal.
Richard Kweku Asante also known as Kalybos who was in a white and black suit said, “Let the young ones represent us. The big ones have been winning it.”
Rex Omar who performed with Akosua Agyapong and Amanzeba was rooting for either Kofi Kinaata or Sarkodie to emerge victorious for artiste of the year.
“If I had my way, it would go to some of the young ones whom have not received it before so as to encourage them” he stated.
