pA day’s forum aimed at educating the students of the Accra Wesley Girls High School at the Awudome Estates in Accra, on how to identify potential kidnappers was held on Thursday.

It was organised by
the Accra Regional Police Command Public Affairs Unit in collaboration with
Lexta Ghana Limited, producers of Yazz range of products.

The Public Relations
Officer of the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Effia Tenge, said
the education drive was to create awareness in the wake of the recent
kidnapping in some parts of the country.

She said the
situation had become a concern to the Police administration hence the need to
create awareness on the issue to help prevent such crimes in the society.

DSP Tenge said the
education drive would be replicated in other schools in Accra.

The Police PRO urged
the students to be mindful of personal information posted on social media, to
avoid falling prey to criminal activities, adding, “Let your parents or
guardian know who your friends are, decline odd job offer from people you
hardly know’’.

DSP Tenge said the Police
emergency lines 191 and 18555werealways availableto contact for redress.

The Head of Academics
of the school, Mr Eric Sey, commended the personnel from the Police command for
their initiative, stating that it would go a long way to create awareness on
kidnapping.

Mr Sey called for
more of such collaboration between the police and school to help fight crime in
the country.

As part of the
occasion personnel from the command organised a sketch on kidnapping.

Educative literature including fliers on
issues of kidnapping was distributed to the students.
